Planetarium Experience at Dundee Science Centre

As part of #OurWorldFromSpace events, Dundee Science Centre partnered with Aero Space Kinross to deliver planetarium activities.

The Cosmos Planetarium visited the Science Centre on during July providing immersive experiences with virtual tours of the night sky and interactive astronomy presentations.

Dundee Science Centre organized these events as part of the national STEM programme “Our World From Space,” exploring UK space science’s relevance for Earth’s sustainability. Funded by the UK Space Agency and NERC, the initiative included interactive workshops, planetarium shows, classroom activities, and STEM career days.

In addition to these activities, Dundee Science Centre is currently running a holiday Space Camp for children from underserved backgrounds, offering unique educational opportunities related to space science, including studying satellites, astronaut health, and designing rockets.
Caitlin MacInnes STEM Development Lead at Dundee Science Centre said “We are delighted to have partnered with Aero Space Kinross. Seeing the excitement and curiosity sparked in our visitors, especially the children, has been incredibly rewarding.” – Caitlin Macinnes,

Hannah Nisbet from Aerospace Kinross conveyed “We were thrilled to bring the Cosmos Planetarium to Dundee Science Centre. It was a fantastic opportunity to inspire and engage visitors with the wonders of space and astronomy. Collaborating together allowed us both to reach a wider audience and promote STEM education in an exciting and meaningful way.”

Earlier this year, Dundee Science Centre and Aero Space Kinross also participated in the “Explore Your Universe” initiative at St. Mary’s Primary School. This initiative focused on expanding science capital among children and families from disadvantaged backgrounds, featuring popular activities like infrared thermal heat cameras, diffraction glasses, and seed bomb making, further enhancing the centre’s commitment to STEM education.
